BSPE has been a wonderful experience. The teachers go out of their way to ensure my student is improving in the areas he struggles with and pushing him in the subjects he excels in. If he's struggling with a concept the teachers have student hours after school so my student can get more individualized support. The wonderful curriculum allows my son to receive the core subjects daily in addition to art, drama, music, engineering, and connections once weekly. The school also has a tremendous amount of extracurricular options, from sports to fun academic clubs. As a parent, I appreciate the first half of aftercare focuses on completing homework. When my student stays in LateBird they come home with all their homework done, which is so helpful. Lastly, the Boosters Club holds the best family-friendly events which allow me to make connections with other parents. Nothing is perfect, but this school has always been open to feedback and loves partnering with parents if they have any concerns.

Likes: Academics are definitely above the public-school grade level. Variety of classes are offered PE, art, music, engineering in addition to Math / ELA and Humanities classes.
Dislikes: Very cramped school, too many students in a small class. Outside playground space is minimal. GYM overflows if there is an event and no parking space.
Major Dislike: Teachers are over controlling in nature and too many complaints sent in communication journal (daily dairy -->CJ). After certain point you just get numb. Complaints like, "_______ kept talking after bell", "_____ went to restroom and took 8 mins". When I ask my daugther she said she had to do #2. So, they expect a 6-7 yr old child to hold their bladder / bowel for class.
They market themselves as having LET / SET team as teachers, but my daughter tells me the LET teacher always yells and screams instead of helping learn. LET acts more as a disciplarian than an educator who goes table to table to teach.

Great school. My daughter started kindergarten there and in 4 months can read a book from not being able to read a word before going there. This is a school which requires parent’s involvement if you want to get the best result. For busy parents this is not the school.
