The latest generation of fighting games is now fully underway with the likes of Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, and many others out in the hands of players and receiving updates / DLC for quite some time where most of them seem to be performing pretty well too.
PlayStation just released their latest best-selling games list where Mortal Kombat and Tekken showed up big while the NPD Group / Circana recently put up their new charts too showing Street Fighter 6 making a comeback.
Starting out with the PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed their top 20 most downloaded games for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 during the month of July 2024 in North America and Europe.
Mortal Kombat 1 impressively claimed a top 10 spot at number 8 overall in the Unites States / Canada and hit 20th in the EU for the game's tenth month since launch.
That wasn't the only NetherRealm Studios fighter to make the list either, as Mortal Kombat 11 hit 20th in America while Mortal Kombat X actually hit 14th on the PS4 chart in both regions.
Tekken 8 also reached number 19 in NA for its sixth month on the market.
All of these games likely benefitted from the PlayStation Summer Sale that just wrapped up to get them all back on these charts although interestingly, Street Fighter 6 is nowhere to be seen here with them.
Capcom's flagship fighting game did still manage to chart in one sales ranking at least with NPD's June list ranging from June 2 through July 6.

During that time, Street Fighter 6 managed to shoot up to 20th place in the United States, which is interesting considering they list it as being 72nd just a month before in May.
This is the first time SF6 has charted in the NPD monthly ranks since last August, but it was within the top 20 for all of 2023 along with Mortal Kombat 1.
Street Fighter apparently heavily benefitted from its anniversary sale in June that marked the base game down to around half price, which looks to have succeeded in getting more people in the door.
Besides SF, Mortal Kombat 1 also rose up the ranks from 19th to 15th in June overall while also reaching the top 10 of PlayStation's sales for the month too.
Interestingly, MultiVersus also managed to chart in the top 10 most played games on PlayStation and Xbox that month where it reached number 6 on Sony's console ahead of Minecraft.

And even as the game approaches its sixth birthday and having already sold almost 35 million copies, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to hit the Nintendo Switch charts fittingly moving up to sixth place for June.
As for the entirety of 2024 thus far, Tekken 8 is managing to hold on to its top 10 spot in the year to date sales despite not hitting the monthly chart now.

Bandai Namco's 3D fighter is still in 8th place for the year, which is down a spot from May, thanks to Elden Ring flying back up the list because of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion launch in June.
Out of all the current fighters, however, we only have more up to date sales figures for Street Fighter 6.
Capcom recently revealed SF6 has reached 3.77 million in its first year on the market, which is more than double what Street Fighter 5 managed to sell over the same period.
We haven't heard any updates from Warner Bros. since they said Mortal Kombat 1 had reached around 3 million copies sold after around a month on store shelves last year.
Similarly, Bamco revealed Tekken 8 hit 2 million copies after a month too though they haven't released concrete numbers to the public since.
While we don't have the exact numbers yet, it's probably safe to say that MK1 is outselling the other two by a sizable margin considering how consistently its ranked up to this point while there's a good chance Tekken 8 reached 3 million by now too.
Either way, the big guns of modern fighting games all seem to be performing quite well in the sales department, which is nice to see during a turbulent year where layoffs and studio closures have become all too common.
